Supernatural via Sonship...
I had a very interesting time of prayer at my keyboard last night. I was just listening to God and really communicating with Him through the gift of music. It's really hard for me to explain without going into major detail about how this communication works for me... but just go with it for now.
Anyhow, I recieved a word from the Lord that seemed completely random to me, but I just knew that it was the Lord and that it had to be shared. So I talked to the friend who it sorta had to do with and shared this word with him. Doesn't matter who... doesn't matter what the word... just know that it really was random, strange and really amazing the way that the Lord had spoken about a specific situation that I could have known nothing about. It actually had to deal with a person that I don't know at all, but this person is a friend of the friend I was speaking to.
At the end of me sharing the word and him explaining how it applied, I said, "Man... The Lord is so amazing that He would speak to ME in my personal time with Him about someone I don't even know. He must care a lot about this person to have spoken this way."
My friend says back to me very frustrated, "See, that's what I'm talking about! Why don't I hear the Lord like that? I really just wish I could hear Him like that."
I had several emotions and thoughts about this statement since he spoke it. I'd like to share some of those with you all, because I don't think he is the only one who gets frustrated when they hear cool stories about the way God is moving and those stories aren't happening to them even though they are seeking the Lord just as whole-heartedly. It makes us wonder, "Why are you able to walk in that and I'm not, even though I'm doing the same things you are?" I get that... I've been there... and I still find myself there sometimes too.
In my walking with the Lord, I have had many unusual things happen to me and through me. I have had many dreams, visions, prophetic words, and seen people healed in some pretty mindblowing ways. Please hear my heart when I am sharing these things with you. I don't share this with you out of pride or the desire to 'toot my own horn.' I boast in Christ alone that is in me and is the only hope of glory. I don't desire the glory of these things for myself, not even an ounce of it. I share these things with you because I want to encourage you that it is possible for you to walk in this too. That I am one fairly ordinary girl, yet I have been given the opportunity to walk in something supernatural and above the ordinary. You have been given that opportunity too.
I am a firm believer that the Lord is a good Father and is a giver of good gifts. I am also a firm believer that He wants His children to have everything that is available to them in their inheritance through being a joint-heir with Christ. I don't believe that these things can be earned or bought.
We often have this mentality that if we store up enough 'prayer points' we can go purchase gifts at the 'supernatural store'. You can't pray enough, can't read enough, can't speak in tongues enough, and can't dance enough to earn the gifts of God. You CAN show yourself a good steward by applying these things to your life and show that you can be trusted with greater blessings... but ULTIMATELY, you must take ownership of your sonship.
You begin to walk in holy supernatural power, when you realize that you have access to the King's gifts via relationship as a son.
I didn't ask or seek for visions or dreams. I just started building relationship with my Father. He saw He could trust me with the things He loves... and He LOVES to do the amazing. He loves to show off! I also realized that as a daughter, I have to ability to do all the things He says I can do. I am identified as one with authority to do all the things in His Word that He says I can do. TRUST me... if it was about earning... I certainly have not done that.
To be honest, because of the things I began to see Him do in my life out of relationship with him, and because of the crazy ways He began to speak to me, I knew that in order to keep those things active in my life without getting flaky... I HAD to start taking initive to seek out the 'whys' to the 'whats' that were happening. I began to hunger for answers, so prayer and Bible study, and fasting and personal worship time became vital to me having a foundation strong enough to hold the supernatural things going on in my life.
So I challenge you this... do not desire to prophesy, to dream, to heal, to walk through walls, or walk on water... but desire His presence. Seek God. Love God. Seek His heart which is His Kingdom and all these things will be given you... Seek to be a son...
